I am a psych major and philosophy minor at Stony Brook University. I'm interested in using my knowledge on both the history and the philosophy of psychology to help me on my path of destigmatizing mental illness.
My interest in mental health is deeply personal. A close and old friend of mine, who is a multi-instrumentalist, cultural wizard and intellectual, has overdosed a total of 3 times. He has the co-morbidity of Substance Abuse, along with Bipolar Disorder. I feel inclined to find him the help he needs. More closer to home, I have a brother who has depression and social anxiety. I feel the same inclination to help him as well.
My interests include painting with acrylics on canvases, writing poems, songs and short stories, reading philosophy books concerning the ontology of man and Marxist theory, mostly continental philosophy.
