My name is Kaiyo Shi, and I am a senior at Stony Brook University where I am a research assistant, EMT-B, and member of THP. I joined THP to join a group of like-minded individuals in furthering awareness and knowledge pertaining to mental health. How can we best create resources to educate? Why do people care about these issues? How can we best help our community? These are the questions I strive to answer with my time in THP. In my free time, I like to draw art and read comics. My favorite color is blue, and I have always been a soccer player throughout my life.

Hi, I'm Sunny Nam :D! I decided to join The Humanology Project because I wanted to bring awareness against the stigmas of mental health and illnesses. Psychology was one of the things that interested me. Rather than learning about atoms or the quadratic equation, we learned about humans and how we are the way we are. It made me realize the importance of our own mental being, and I saw how stigmatized and unknown it was to the general public. I wanted to change that. I hope THP will be able to debunk and educate people about mental health; show people to place importance in their mental health as they do with their physical health.

My name is Xenia, and I am a junior journalism and sociology double major. I decided to join The Humanology Project because I wanted an outlet for writing that wasn't journalism-based and focused more on using my sociology degree. I loved THP's focus on making mental health terminology and resources more widely accessible to students and people from any demographic, and I also thought it was a great way for me to educate myself on mental health issues I wasn't familiar with initially. In my free time, I like to read and watch Youtube videos.

My name is Jenny Wang, and I am a senior majoring in psychology and creative writing. I joined The Humanology Project because I wanted to combine my interests of mental health awareness and writing, and THP's mission resonated with me as well. In my free time, I like to look at cat videos and take pictures of the cat in my backyard (their name is Grumpy).

Bryan Molina
Event Coordinator & Outreach
Joined in Fall 2019
Hometown: Queens, NY
Majors: Health Science & Psychology
My name is Bryan Molina, and I am double majoring in health science and psychology. I joined the outreach division in THP to help people understand that mental health should always be an openly discussed topic, in hopes to destigmatize common misconceptions. THP has served as a stepping stone in my aspiration to becoming a clinical psychologist because I believe everyone should have a voice without the fear of judgment when articulating their mental health. I love doing improvisational theatre, and I always try to incorporate improv into the outreach team to learn how to publicly speak and listen, with the goal of outreaching to peers on campus!

I’m a psychology major with a passion for language, art, and food! It’s a weird combination, but it works for me. I want to become an art therapist in the future, as it’s a field that’s so new and especially appealing for creatives.

Hi! My name is Naomi Nguyen. As THP’s web designer, my goal is to increase the public’s digital access to evidence-based mental health research. Although I graduated from Stony Brook University in December 2021, I have grown so close to everyone in THP that I decided to return to the organization for the spring semester. Starting in August, I will be pursuing an M.A. in social research and analysis. I hope to become a CX/UX researcher, as this field combines my interest in psychology with my passion for computer science. Until then, you can find me editing videos, tutoring math students, or practicing calligraphy!
