I’m a senior Environmental Studies major and the current president of The Humanology Project! I’m an avid football (not American football) fan that follows Liverpool FC. I also love to listen to music; Lil Tjay, Post Malone, and KSI are my favorite artists. I hope to bring The Humanology Project into wider recognition across the Stony Brook University campus community, and truly hope to see different American universities establish their own THP chapter. I am a huge advocate for mental health awareness and I’m truly honored to be at the frontline of THP!

Hello, my name is Maria Katechis. I’m a senior here at Stony Brook University and an aspiring PA currently working as a medical assistant. I’m pursuing a degree in biology and psychology, and being a part of the Humanology Project has been a great opportunity to learn more about the intersection of these disciplines. Writing is something I enjoy, especially when it’s about topics that interest me like addiction and neurodegenerative disease. In my free time, I love running because it helps me destress. Being an MA also brings me joy because I get to interact with patients and learn from their experiences. As VP, I strive to contribute to cultivating an environment where we can all learn from each other as well!

My name is Sophia, I’m a sophomore at Stony Brook, research assistant, and secretary for The Humanology Project. Growing up in a south asian family, mental health awareness existed minimally. I joined THP in interest of destigmatizing mental health and especially advocating for others with similar experiences of overcoming cultural stigmas of mental health. Aside from academics, I love to play tennis, practice archery, and crochet. Psychology

My name is Xenia, and I am a junior journalism and sociology double major. I decided to join The Humanology Project because I wanted an outlet for writing that wasn’t journalism-based and focused more on using my sociology degree. I loved THP’s focus on making mental health terminology and resources more widely accessible to students and people from any demographic, and I also thought it was a great way for me to educate myself on mental health issues I wasn’t familiar with initially. In my free time, I like to read and watch Youtube videos.

I’m also a huge advocate for outreach and education about these topics, and I really enjoy learning about others’ experiences with their own mental well-being. I’m particularly vocal about suicide prevention and struggles with chronic anxiety. In my free time, I’m taking care of my many plants, reading, and listening to music with my friends :).
